Faith bolstering food for your spirit.
Are you Desperate?
I've been thinking on how quickly people become discouraged and begin murmuring. We know we have the power of God residing in us and we still get disgruntled. We have become well versed in the scriptures, and we still get aggravated and wonder what's going on! The preacher stands up and tells us the bible says we have been made more than conquerors through Christ Jesus and we shout, "Yes, amen!" and get in the car to leave and almost immediately get into doubt and unbelief again. This happens all of the time to born again, bible believing, children of God. Why? John G. Lake said, "The reason that people do not have a rich, beautiful faith is that their spirit is denied the privilege of communion and fellowship with the Father." In the 1890s, as a result of several members of his family, including his wife, receiving remarkable healings, Lake quit his successful business career and went into full time ministry. As a young man Lake was always hungry for the things of God. In 1908 he took his family to South Africa to begin missionary work. In just a few years he established a flourishing work which included the establishment of 625 churches under his leadership. In 1913 Lake established a healing ministry in Spokane, Washington with more than 100,000 documented healings. Spokane became the healthiest city in America. This man of God knew about getting in the presence of God and spending time with the Lord -- rather than what we tend to pray gimme, gimme, gimme. In Psalm 91:1,2 we read: He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in him will I trust. When we trust God, we will spend time with Him -- in His presence. In the presence of God is the place where sin dissolves and sickness flees. I believe it is an area where we are all falling short. I have endeavored to spend more time than ever on my face before God. I need Him more than ever! I believe when we get desperate for the presence of God, we will begin seeing His power demonstrated in greater measure.
